Maggiano’s Little Italy

Apr 9, 2019 | Blog

We recently paid a visit to Maggiano’s Little Italy’s, another restaurant member of GHWCC, and to which I had not been in quite a while. As I remembered our past visits here, I don’t know why we hadn’t been back is a long time. We just have so many choices in Houston, we can sometimes get distracted with the new and shiny restaurants.

I’m glad we came back and were reminded of the great options in their Italian American menu.

We ordered from the Lunch Combinations menu, which lets you choose two things: a soup and a salad or half sandwich, or any other combination of two items from that menu for only $10.00 (!)

We each had Minestrone soup and one other item: the Maggiano’s salad, with delicious crispy prosciutto, red onion, blue cheese with the house dressing. It’s a big tasty salad and it was surprisingly filling. We also ordered the Italian Grilled Cheese & Ham half sandwich which came with a side of potatoes.

We finished with a beautiful Lemon Cake with Mascarpone cream chees, berry sauce topped with fresh berries dessert, which benefits the Make a Wish Foundation. What a great excuse to order dessert!

This special dessert changes from time to time and currently the featured dessert benefiting the Make a Wish Foundation, is the Carrot Cake with Mascarpone Cream Cheese Frosting, Caramel Sauce & Pecans.

Maggiano’s never disappoints, with extensive menus with choices for everyone, but I think it’s best enjoyed with a friend, or many friends…enjoy it the Italian way!

About Maya:

“I was raised in Cali, Colombia in a geographical setting and culture filled with tropical colors and mysticism, and I like to reflect these elements in my jewelry designs.

I’ve always been creative. I learned to sew when I was a teenager, and that led me to develop a love for fashion and accessories that has stuck with me to this day. Raised but a single mother working as a secretary, I grew up with very limited resources. That led me to decide that if I wanted something my mother could not afford, I would just make it myself.

It wasn’t until many years later, in 2011, that I began exploring jewelry design and making jewelry that reflected my style. I would wear my bracelets and necklaces out on the town, and was often approached with inquiries about where I bought the pieces. Friends and new acquaintances began asking me to make bracelets and necklaces for them, and eventually I decided to turn the hobby about which I am so passionate into a full time business.

I enjoy creating fun, unique jewelry utilizing high quality materials, a style that I refer to as “casually elegant.” Because the use of high quality components is so important to me, I spend significant time sourcing each item that I use. Everything I use is sold in the United States, with the exception of one item that I obtain from Turkey.

I hope you enjoy these pieces that I have created. If you have any questions at all, please get in touch with me by clicking here.”
