Each year, high school students from across the district have an opportunity to create western artwork for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Aldine ISD FFA exhibition. The students are tasked with researching the culture of Houston, agriculture, and animals. Participating visual art students submit their artwork for the FFA art contest and the artwork is then judged by professional artists.
The top six art pieces are selected to be sold during the live auction at the Buyer’s Dinner at 5 p.m. on Friday, January 31. Bidding will take place during the livestock show. All of the artwork submitted will be on display at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center, 1865 Aldine Bender Rd., in room 104 during the FFA Livestock Show.
The Aldine ISD FFA community is always supportive of students pursuing their choices and opportunities, whether it’s through the sale of an animal, welding project or artwork. The money the students receive from the sale of their artwork helps fund their college or university dreams.
Congratulations to the 2020 FFA Visual Art Winners!
