RESTAURANT REVIEW: Mia’s Table

Mia’s Table, 3131 Argonne St, Houston, TX 77098, miastable.com

Originally a Houston favorite since 2012, Mia’s Table is part of the Johnny Carrabba Family of Restaurants. With a casual American ambiance, Mia’s Table offers from cheese burgers to tacos, country plates to soups and salads all accompanied by some southern favorite drinks and desserts.

During our visit we tried the smoked chicken with coleslaw and green beans & the red snapper tacos with chips and queso. I highly recommend both but it was one of the side dishes that made the best impression. The coleslaw is the best I’ve had in a long time. It not only tasted very fresh, but it was a perfect balance of ingredients which made it very light and not overwhelmed with mayonnaise.

The smoked chicken was very good and moist and the fish tacos was made with big pieces of red snapper, which I really appreciate since I didn’t want to eat tilapia or an unknown fish. We didn’t have dessert this time but we did try the sweet tea which was also good. I’m sure we will be back not just because there were many items we would like to try, but also because the restaurant has a really cute bar and a porch like atmosphere, very relaxed and perfect for families or friends’ after work gatherings.

About Maya:

“I was raised in Cali, Colombia in a geographical setting and culture filled with tropical colors and mysticism, and I like to reflect these elements in my jewelry designs.

I’ve always been creative. I learned to sew when I was a teenager, and that led me to develop a love for fashion and accessories that has stuck with me to this day. Raised but a single mother working as a secretary, I grew up with very limited resources. That led me to decide that if I wanted something my mother could not afford, I would just make it myself.

It wasn’t until many years later, in 2011, that I began exploring jewelry design and making jewelry that reflected my style. I would wear my bracelets and necklaces out on the town, and was often approached with inquiries about where I bought the pieces. Friends and new acquaintances began asking me to make bracelets and necklaces for them, and eventually I decided to turn the hobby about which I am so passionate into a full time business.

I enjoy creating fun, unique jewelry utilizing high quality materials, a style that I refer to as “casually elegant.” Because the use of high quality components is so important to me, I spend significant time sourcing each item that I use. Everything I use is sold in the United States, with the exception of one item that I obtain from Turkey.

I hope you enjoy these pieces that I have created. If you have any questions at all, please get in touch with me by clicking here.”
