“Performing Arts Houston knows that an arts education has the power to transform lives and strengthen our community. That’s what drives us to connect students with artists from around the world and give them the tools to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the arts.”

With support from Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce (GHWCC), Performing Arts Houston’s Education and Community Engagement department welcomed 100 members of the Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy (YWCPA) to New/Now: The Houston Artist Commissioning Project. The YWCPA students were able to witness three world premiere works by Houston artists in one of Houston’s most iconic venues. Opportunities like this and Performing Arts Houston’s extensive masterclass and workshop offerings give students an inside look at how involvement in the arts can become a lifelong source of inspiration, joy, and growth.
Since its founding, Performing Arts Houston has kept arts education at the forefront of its mission. In keeping with this, Performing Arts Houston and GHWCC have committed to hosting YWCPA members for various performances, including Drum Tao and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. PAH will also invite students to participate in the arts beyond the stage through carefully crafted learning opportunities relevant to the needs of our community.
