Nutrition leader Joan Dye Gussow has passed at 96 years old. She was most known for her big-picture thinking in the world of nutrition, challenging nutritionists to look up at the world around them. She authored The Feeding Web: Issues in Nutrition Ecology and The Nutrition Debate (with Paul Thomas), had leadership positions in the FDA’s Food Advisory Committee and the Society for Nutrition Education, and championed the Nutritional Ecology course.
