Paramount has acquired the digital media company The Free Press and appointed its founder, Bari Weiss, as editor-in-chief of CBS News, signaling a new phase in leadership and editorial direction at the network. Under the deal, The Free Press will retain its brand and operate independently while Weiss will help guide CBS News across platforms, reporting directly to Paramount CEO David Ellison.
