ADDISON, TEXAS — The Texas Academy of Family Physicians presented the Rising Star Award to Jessica Nu Glick, DO, FAAFP, at TAFP’s Annual Session and Primary Care Summit in Addison on Nov. 15. The award honors new-to-practice members who show exceptional achievement in academics, leadership, and advocacy to further the mission of the specialty of family medicine.
Recently, Glick was integral in reviving TAFP’s Northwoods Chapter, which represents Montgomery County, just north of Houston. She also completed the American Academy of Family Physicians’ Leading Physician Well-Being Certificate Program this year, where she worked to further develop leadership skills and learned how to create systemic change to improve well-being for physicians. Glick also mentors residents through TAFP’s Resident Leadership Experience as well as AAFP’s Residency Ambassador program.
Her nominators repeatedly referred to Glick as a caring and compassionate clinician, who is self-aware and a natural leader. They wrote about her willingness to elevate the people and community around her, as well as her authenticity and humility as a physician and a colleague.
Glick practices direct primary care at First Primary Care in Houston, where she is also a champion for employee well-being. She is also the vice co-chair for AAFP’s Direct Primary Care Member Interest Group and the new physician director on TAFP’s board. Glick has previously served as a Texas delegate to AAFP’s National Conference of Constituency Leaders.
Family physicians like Glick are qualified to work in all major medical areas and trained to treat more than 90% of all cases they encounter. Family physicians care for patients of all ages.
The Texas Academy of Family Physicians is the premier membership organization dedicated to uniting the family doctors of Texas through advocacy, education and member services, and empowering them to provide a medical home for patients of all ages.
