Salata

Feb 24, 2019 | Blog

Starting the year with health in mind, I visited one of our restaurant chamber members, Salata.

With over 50 toppings, Salata has a wide variety of options for salads and wraps with 10 different house made dressings, such as Ginger Vinaigrette and Fat Free Mango. Poultry choices include Pit Smoked Turkey, Asian BBQ Chicken and Pesto Chicken, as well as Vegan options like Quinoa, Baked Tofu and Falafel. Salata also offers some seafood options.

Now, when eating at a salad place I don’t have a system I follow, but I tend to stick with my only rule: very little dressing. However the Ginger Vinaigrette sounded good so I gave it a good shot. I piled on some of my favorite salad ingredients –like kale, spinach, beets, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs and nuts in a “small” salad choice, but that was more like a medium salad…no complaints on that! The salad was great in size and flavor, very fresh ingredients and the dressing was tasty.

On Salata’s web site you can find a very detailed breakdown of ingredients, allergens and calories. Having family members with food allergies, this is something I find very useful, and something I wish everyone had on their menus. Be sure to visit them at one of their several locations and get your year started on a healthier page.

About Maya:

“I was raised in Cali, Colombia in a geographical setting and culture filled with tropical colors and mysticism, and I like to reflect these elements in my jewelry designs.

I’ve always been creative. I learned to sew when I was a teenager, and that led me to develop a love for fashion and accessories that has stuck with me to this day. Raised but a single mother working as a secretary, I grew up with very limited resources. That led me to decide that if I wanted something my mother could not afford, I would just make it myself.

It wasn’t until many years later, in 2011, that I began exploring jewelry design and making jewelry that reflected my style. I would wear my bracelets and necklaces out on the town, and was often approached with inquiries about where I bought the pieces. Friends and new acquaintances began asking me to make bracelets and necklaces for them, and eventually I decided to turn the hobby about which I am so passionate into a full time business.

I enjoy creating fun, unique jewelry utilizing high quality materials, a style that I refer to as “casually elegant.” Because the use of high quality components is so important to me, I spend significant time sourcing each item that I use. Everything I use is sold in the United States, with the exception of one item that I obtain from Turkey.

I hope you enjoy these pieces that I have created. If you have any questions at all, please get in touch with me by clicking here.”
