APPLICATION PROCESS BEGINS IN OCTOBER 2023

The Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce is passionate about educating young women and exposing them to professional growth opportunities. As such, the Chamber’s Education Committee offers college junior & senior girls an opportunity to shadow professionals in their chosen field in a program called “Love What You Do.”

FOR STUDENTS

Student Shadowing

During this exciting day female students shadow a professional in a career related to their field of study and network with women who have expertise, advice and unique insights to share. This is an opportunity for students to learn from leaders in business and experience a day in the real life of a working woman.

FOR PROFESSIONALS

Professionals: Contact us to serve as a host for Love What You Do College Job Shadowing

We are currently seeking organizations and businesses to partner with us by becoming a host site for students to learn more about their desired fields. This is a half day commitment to host up to 30 female students. Students arrive in the morning and are picked up before lunch unless the host site is able to sponsor lunch. This program gives students an opportunity to learn more about the industry and hear first hand from experts about what they can expect from the field.

The lunch portion of the program gives students an opportunity to practice their public speaking skills by sharing with the group about their experience. This is also an opportunity to teach dining etiquette and networking skills. We end the day by presenting participants with certificates.

Join us for a day-long event designed to empower young women in identifying fulfilling careers by opening doors to discover exciting career options, build lasting relationships and explore new opportunities.

Love What You Do STUDENT Application

The GHWCC Mentorship program aims to benefit all participants, whether they are mentors or mentees. The mentorship program will promote personal and professional growth and development. The Chamber will work diligently to match applicants with Mentors that are closely aligned with the Mentee’s chosen field.

For mentors, the benefits include enhancing leadership and management skills, contributing to the community, learning the viewpoints of other generations, and becoming a role model for the next generation of successful Houston businesswomen.

For mentees, the benefits include gaining access to corporate and community leaders, obtaining advice, and participating in professional development opportunities through mentor relationships and programming.

The program will begin in February 2023, with an in-person kickoff event, and will run through May 2023. The initial event is mandatory for all student participants! This will be the first opportunity for program participants and their corporate match to formally meet.
