Elizabeth Gonzalez Brock

Elizabeth Gonzalez Brock serves as Board Chair of METRO and Vice President of Federal Affairs for CenterPoint Energy. Appointed by Mayor John Whitmire in 2024, she is the first Hispanic woman to chair METRO and helps guide the agency’s regional transit priorities. A dedicated civic leader, Elizabeth founded Evolve Houston and serves on several community boards, including the Greater Houston Partnership and Houston First Corporation.

Elizabeth Gonzalez Brock serves as the Board Chair of the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas (METRO). Appointed by Mayor John Whitmire in February 2024, she made history as the first Hispanic woman to assume the role. As Chair, Elizabeth plays a pivotal role in leading the transit agency’s Board of Directors, which is responsible for guiding the agency’s $1.9 billion annual budget and overseeing policies across METRO’s expansive 1300-square-mile service area. The Authority provides essential transportation services to the City of Houston, significant areas of Harris County, and 14 surrounding multi-cities. Elizabeth is deeply committed to upholding METRO’s mission of delivering safe, clean, reliable, and accessible public transportation services to the Houston region, with a strong focus on increasing ridership and mobility for all.

Elizabeth also serves as Vice President of Federal Affairs for CenterPoint Energy, where she supports the company’s capital planning needs. She most recently led the company’s business and economic development, energy efficiency programs, and federal utility energy services contracts to support CenterPoint Energy’s electric and gas utility.

At CenterPoint Energy, she led regional business development teams across six states, dedicated to implementing and ensuring regulatory compliance of state programs focused on energy efficiency. With an acumen for customer service, Elizabeth’s primary objective in this role was to meet customers’ energy conservation needs and service offerings, enabling them to successfully achieve their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals.

Prior to her most recent experience, Elizabeth served as the Director of Regulatory and Government Affairs, where she demonstrated exceptional skills in strategy development, advocated for positive regulatory outcomes, and built effective relationships with key stakeholders. She successfully managed relationships with the City of Houston and over 100 municipalities, collaborating closely with senior leadership to develop strategic solutions for high-priority initiatives such as rate filings, utility code updates, and customer program implementation.

Apart from her professional endeavors, Elizabeth is deeply invested in advocating for environmental improvement. She is the founder of Evolve Houston, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing air quality through the promotion and adoption of electric vehicles. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Houston Partnership, chairs the Finance Committee of Houston First Corporation, and held the position of Board Chair for the Greater Houston Area Women’s Chamber.

Elizabeth holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Houston. With her extensive experience, strategic skillset, and unwavering commitment to excellence, she continues to make significant contributions to the energy industry, transportation sector, and her community.

Rhonda Abbott started her career as a physical therapist in the spinal cord injury program and now oversees TIRR Memorial Hermann’s nationally recognized learning healthcare system and continuum of excellence in rehabilitative care, research, advocacy and education. A champion for inclusion and empowerment for people with disabilities, she serves as Chair on the board of directors for the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association.

Abbott is dedicated to developing others, mentoring through Women Leaders of Memorial Hermann and serving as executive sponsor of Memorial Hermann’s inaugural employee engagement group for team members with disabilities. She has a master’s degree in physical therapy and an MBA, and is both a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Away from work, she enjoys the outdoors and most importantly is married to a talented musician and is the mother of two amazing sons.

Kim Coomber Hallum

Kim Coomber-Hallum serves as Head of Workplace Solutions, Americas, for bp, leading facilities teams across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Trinidad, Brazil, and Argentina. With 28 years at bp, her career spans operations, project and change management, facilities, sales, marketing, and logistics. She is a longtime advocate for women and inclusion, actively supporting bp’s business resource groups, mentoring talent, and serving on several community and leadership boards.

Kim has been with bp for 28 years and is the Head of Workplace Solutions, Americas. In this role, Kim is responsible for an Americas team of facilities professionals who support bp’s offices in the US, Canada, Mexico, Trinidad, Brazil and Argentina where our vision is to create and curate net-zero workplaces that our people love and that help us think, work and connect together. She holds a rich background in the Commercial, Negotiation, Planning, Performance (Operations and HSSE), Project and Change Management, Facilities Management, Sales, Marketing and Logistics – all within the bp offices in Calgary, Denver and Houston. Kim has been passionate and is actively involved in supporting the women of bp since early in her career. Kim has actively founded and lead many of bp’s women’s business resource groups in Canada, Houston and across the Americas and is a driving force in support and advocacy of bp’s Inclusion initiatives along with having a passion for mentoring and supporting talent with their career development and journey. Brenda Hellyer

Brenda Hellyer, Ed.D. serves as Chancellor of San Jacinto College, where she has led the institution since 2009. Under her leadership, the College has been recognized by the Aspen Institute as one of the top two community colleges in the nation and has significantly increased degrees and certificates awarded. Brenda Hellyer, Ed.D., was named the fifth chancellor of San Jacinto College in 2009. Prior to her appointment as chancellor, she served in a variety of roles at the College including executive vice president for Resource Development, vice chancellor for Fiscal Affairs, and executive vice chancellor.

Brenda has helped San Jacinto College become one of the top two community colleges in the nation as recognized by the Aspen Institute. She is a champion for all students and employees, ensuring that students can complete what they start at San Jacinto College. Since 2014, the College has seen a 47.5% increase in the number of degrees and certificates awarded.

Brenda serves and has served on a variety of community boards and committees, including chambers of commerce, economic development councils, city and county government, and non-profit organizations. She has also served and chaired various associations and commissions at the regional, state, and national levels. Susan Hill

Susan L. Hill is Senior Managing Director at JLL Capital Markets, where her 39-year career has grown from receptionist to one of Houston’s leading commercial real estate professionals. Cylenthia Hoyrd is a visionary leader whose career spans over three decades of unwavering dedication to championing underserved communities. Hoyrd’s impactful journey began in Chicago, where she advocated tirelessly for the disenfranchised. Her early work as a Program Monitor for the Illinois Department of Public Health laid the groundwork for nonprofits to deliver vital public health services. Hoyrd’s leadership truly blossomed at Catholic Charities, where she directed Chicago’s largest Head Start program, providing over 1,500 children, ages five and younger, with early childhood development and vital supportive services. She pioneered a groundbreaking Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Immunization Initiative. Her strategic focus then transformed resident services as Chief of Resident Programs for the Chicago Housing Authority, creating a one-stop Service Connector Model that dramatically improved the lives of 25,000 residents.

In 2000, as Assistant Commissioner for the Mayor’s Senior Initiatives, she oversaw the development of ten award-winning Senior Satellite Centers and championed affordable housing solutions for grandparents raising grandchildren — a profound testament to her deep empathy and commitment. In 2012, Houston welcomed Hoyrd’s expertise to the Houston Public Library. There, she spearheaded the Broadband Technology Opportunity Program, creating 90 public computer labs that became crucial digital learning hubs. Her influence continued to grow when she led the opening of cafécollege Houston in 2015. The program connected over 1,200 students to college opportunities and secured vital scholarships and grants in its first year of operation. She also served as an Adjunct Professor of Grant Writing and Community Assessment for the University of Phoenix for three years.

Hoyrd has also been an owner and partner in several successful business ventures over the years, including a commercial cleaning service, an accounting firm, childcare provision, and business consulting and development where she enjoys shepherding new businesses. By 2023, Hoyrd reached another pinnacle as the Director of the Office of Business Opportunity, overseeing Houston’s Minority, Women, and Small Business Enterprise (MWSBE) program. With over 5,000 certified businesses under her purview, it’s the largest municipal program of its kind in Texas, directly fostering economic growth and equitable opportunity. Amanda McMillian has served as President and CEO of United Way of Greater Houston since May 1, 2020.  Prior to joining United Way, she served as Executive Vice President & General Counsel for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, where she was a member of the executive committee and was responsible for Anadarko’s legal, human resources, and real estate and facilities functions.  Before her tenure at Anadarko, Amanda practiced corporate and securities law at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.

She currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Houston Partnership and the Board of Trustees of Southwestern University. She is also a member of the Executive Committee for Upskill Houston, the Advisory Board for the Kinder Institute for Urban Research at Rice University, and the Advisory Board for the Mayor’s Office of Adult Literacy. Marie Myers joined Hewlett Packard Enterprise as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in January 2024. She is a strategic and visionary CFO known for making financial decisions that fuel innovation and performance.

Marie most recently served as CFO of HP Inc. since 2021, where she led the company’s Finance organization and was responsible for all aspects of financial operations. She previously held a variety of other positions at HP, including Chief Transformation Officer, overseeing the Information Technology and Transformation organizations; Global Controller; and Americas CFO of the Personal Systems business unit. In 2015, Marie was HP’s Finance lead for the separation of Hewlett-Packard Company, which resulted in the creation of HPE. She previously served as CFO at robotic process automation company UiPath.

She currently serves on the board of directors for Qualcomm Incorporated. An enthusiastic advocate for STEM education, she also serves on the board of the University of Queensland in America, Inc.

Marie has been recognized by Women in Computing and was named to the Top 40 under 40 in Finance. She also was chosen as one of the Top 20 Most Powerful Businesswomen in Texas and was recognized by the University of Queensland as its Alumna of the Year. In 2018, she was selected for Texas Executive Women on the Move and one of the Top 30 Influential Women of Houston. Traci Pelter is a seasoned business development leader with over 30 years of experience in high-performance sales and management. She began her sales career managing advertising for McCarran Airport in Las Vegas. Traci then spent nearly two decades at Pace Communications as a Senior Territory Manager, overseeing ad sales for Southwest Airlines’ inflight magazine, where she earned Employee of the Year and multiple sales awards.

In January 2021, Traci joined Houston Business Journal as an Account Executive and was promoted to Vice President of Sales in June 2022. Under her leadership, her team won the prestigious Eagle Award for achieving outstanding performance and Traci was named a Star Award Recipient at the 2024 Media Alliance Awards. In December 2024, she was named Market President & Publisher.

Traci holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Kansas and a master’s degree in Hotel Administration & Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Stephanie Ramirez

Stephanie Ramirez serves as Vice President of School Based Health Clinics at Legacy Community Health, providing operational leadership for 37 clinics across Galena Park ISD, KIPP, and YES Prep campuses. She helps ensure students and families receive high-quality clinical and behavioral health care while supporting clinic teams and future program expansion. As Vice President of School Based Health Clinics, Stephanie Ramirez is responsible for providing operational leadership in 37 School Based Health Clinics (SBHC). Stephanie’s primary role is to engage and build relationships with school and community leadership in Galena Park ISD, KIPP and YES Prep charters to ensure that students are receiving high quality care, that clinic staff are supported in their clinical efforts and identifying opportunities for future expansion.

She has oversight of the operations team that provides day-to-day support to nurse practitioners, therapists, and medical assistants that includes vaccine and supply management, outreach events and school leadership engagement. Stephanie is also responsible for oversight of staffing, ensuring clinical efficiencies, as well as environmental and quality of care for underserved communities.  In the near two years with Legacy, the SBHC Program has provided clinical and behavioral health care to over 94,000 students, siblings and children of school staff. It has also expanded how care is provided through the purchase of medical devices that allows nurse clinicians to provide telehealth care in a more comprehensive and detailed manner.

Stephanie received her bachelor’s degree in behavioral science and her Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Houston – Clear Lake. She also began her career as the youngest councilwoman in the City of South Houston history, at 23.

She lives in Houston, Texas, with her husband of almost 28 years, and dog (Cash), and enjoys morning coffee, early morning workouts, skiing, and spending time with family and friends. She is also fluent in Spanish and enjoys speaking her native language with students and their families.

Nyma Shah has spent more than two decades building at the place where medicine, research, and strategy converge. Her work has always been rooted in a simple conviction: that the systems supporting healthcare are just as important as the care itself.

As Executive Director of Strategy and Business Development at one of the nation’s most renowned cancer centers, she leads institutional strategic planning and cultivates the kinds of partnerships that move innovation from idea to impact. Sarah Trend is the Unconventional Subsurface Technical Manager for ExxonMobil’s Upstream division, with responsibility for specialist subsurface analyses, including SEC reserves reporting.

Prior to this role, Sarah held a variety of technical, leadership, and corporate positions across geoscience, commercial, decision quality, and investor relations.  She is known for her ability to build high-performing, cross-cultural teams fostering inclusive, growth-minded environments that consistently deliver measurable business impact.

Sarah believes in delivering results through constructive leadership, with a focus on caring, learning, and feeling valued.  An active mentor, she has developed and taught classes in forward seismic modeling, asset business planning, inclusion & diversity, and decision quality.

As a strong proponent of building community, Sarah volunteers with the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto and in several leadership roles with United Way of Greater Houston.  In her free time, she enjoys baking, sewing, spending time outdoors with her husband, and playing board games with her two children.
