Bank of Texas celebrates 25 years with Dress For Success Houston
Hundreds of women in the Houston area will be outfitted with new-to-them professional outfits thanks to the continued efforts of Dress For Success Houston, now in its 25th year.
“We were thrilled to support the continued efforts of this organization during their milestone year,” said Angelia Williams, Sr. Community Relations Manager for Bank of Texas, Houston. “And our employees are showing up in a big way to celebrate throughout the month.”
Employees from across the company rallied to support Dress for Success Houston, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools to help women thrive in work and life.
“The handbag lunch was a big hit,” said Mari Salazar, manager of energy banking for Bank of Texas. “We had employees from various departments come together—each bringing a handbag to donate to DFS Houston, while others chose to utilize DFS’ amazon wish list. We collected more than 15 handbags just for one lunch event. It’s exciting to participate in an event that’s so empowering for women in our community.”
Throughout the month, Bank of Texas employees are helping provide professional attire to women in need in a number of ways—from dropping off their dry cleaned interview items to purchasing ready-to-wear items from the DFS Houston wish list. The efforts are part of the Her Path Forward movement that Dress for Success features every year.
“Later this month, Bank of Texas employees are volunteering for a work day at DFS Houston, sorting and organizing the donated items,” said Audrey Schexnailder, HR Business Partner for Bank of Texas. “It’s exciting to know we are presenting women in our community, our neighbors, with the confidence that comes from a new professional wardrobe so they feel empowered and ready to tackle their next chapter.”
Finally, Bank of Texas in Houston hosts an executive roadshow event which draws hundreds employees to a single event and invited employees to bring a pair of dress shoes or a handbag for a heels and handbags drive.
“With this many people in one place, we knew it was the perfect opportunity to showcase the Dress For Success Houston mission and our amazing partnership with the organization,” said Williams.
