All Eyes on Texas: Community Colleges Focus on Preparing the Workforce of Tomorrow, published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, examines the role community colleges can play in workforce programs and career and technical education and notes that this requires operating in partnership with business to provide an agile and timely response to evolving workplace demands and technological change. The report explores new proposals for the state’s two-year institutions and their job-focused programs, including outcomes-based funding, data dashboards, and financial aid for noncredit students to meet the job-training and education needs required for Texas to support the 4 million new jobs expected by 2036.
