Gates Foundation Launches $2.5B Women’s Health Innovation Push

The Gates Foundation has pledged $2.5 billion through 2030 to drive research and development across more than 40 innovations targeting historically overlooked areas in women’s health, such as maternal care, menstrual and gynecological health, contraception, STIs, and maternal nutrition, especially benefiting low and middle-income countries. Foundation leaders emphasize that despite this being their largest-ever investment in women’s health R&D, it remains “a drop in the bucket,” calling on governments, philanthropists, investors, and the private sector to co-invest and help spark a new era of women-centered health innovation.
