GHWCC Visits Sawyer Yards-Houston

Apr 11, 2025 | News

On April 9th, the GWHCC Women Supporting the Arts Committee had the pleasure of meeting with artists located in Sawyer Yards-Houston, an art studio co-op.  Dana Cargile, Dana Gargile Art, hosted the Arts Committee at her amazing light-filled art studio. In addition to sharing her background in various media, Dana kindly arranged for other artists to open their doors. The Arts Committee explored the works of Yvette Grutter, C. Ellen Hart, Jack Hart, and Doug Jacobson, each of whom chronicled their artistic journey and insights. The Arts Committee attendees engaged with these talented artists and delved into their fascinating works, while enjoying nips and nibbles generously provided by Dana. Dana explained that warehouses in Sawyer Yards have been transformed into six distinct buildings which house approximately 400 individual art galleries, making Sawyer Yards is the largest creative campus in the nation!  We hope that GWHCC members will visit this innovative enclave to support Houston’s plethora of local talent.  Sawyer Yards hosts an open arts studio the second of each month from 12-5pm where art can be viewed and purchased directly from the artist. Dana indicated that her building, The Silos at Sawyer Yards, holds an additional open house every third Saturday of the month from 12-5pm.  A special thank you to Dana Cargile for inviting the GHWCC Arts Committee to this inspiring space!
