A new Lean In and McKinsey report finds that for the first time in the 11-year Women in the Workplace survey, women are less likely than men to want promotions, creating a noticeable “ambition gap” at entry, mid, and senior career levels. The study links this gap to reduced employer support for women’s advancement, cutbacks in diversity and inclusion programs, fewer sponsorship opportunities, and rollbacks of flexible work options that disproportionately affect women’s career progression.
