Mental Heath Awareness Month is celebrated in May each year. Mental health can impact your physical health, and your physical health can impact your mental health. It’s incumbent on all of us to be aware of mental health not only in the month of May, but throughout the year.
One of the U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy’s primary focuses is the foundational role that workplaces should play in promoting the health and well-being of workers and our communities. He emphasizes how a healthy workforce is the foundation for thriving organizations and healthier communities.
While professional care and self-care are beneficial, I believe that supportive care – relationships that lift us up – can transform our lives and our world. As a professional with a lived experience of managing my own mental health challenges, I am committed to teaching corporations, organizations, and the community how to provide comfort and care for one another.
As you think about mental health this month, I would like to issue you the 3-3-3 challenge. Could you take 3 minutes every day to contact 3 different people for the next 3 months? I promise that you will learn to make caring for others a part of your lifestyle as well as encourage others to connect more with one another. Together, we can make this world a more caring and connected place.
