Houston Dash is excited to share that today is a historic day for Houston as a top sports city. On April 12, 2014, the Houston Dash played their inaugural match as the first expansion team of the National Women’s Soccer League. The Houston Dash embarked on a special journey 10 years ago and each of the last ten seasons holds memories that are part of our story. Tonight, they will host the 10th anniversary match for the Dash at Shell Energy Stadium and celebrate this milestone with a free festival on Rusk St., a special recognition ceremony and a national broadcast on Amazon Prime Video. The spotlight continues to shine on women’s sports following record-breaking viewership ratings for the Final Four and we have the opportunity to showcase Houston’s role in women’s sports on the national stage this evening. A familiar family will join tonight as JJ Watt, his wife Kealia and their son will be in attendance. Many of you know JJ for his remarkable career with the Texans and fundraising efforts following Hurricane Harvey. Kealia was a tremendous player for the Dash for 6 seasons and tonight she’ll make her debut as a sideline reporter.
