Personal Journey
Can you share a bit about your personal journey and what led you to your current position?
My path began with plans for law school, but an opportunity arose to work in the staffing industry, and I felt a deeper calling. That moment led me to discover my true purpose.

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced on your path to leadership, and how did you overcome them?
One of my greatest challenges was building a strong, like-minded team—people who share the same passion and purpose. Additionally, being a minority female in a predominantly male industry required resilience and perseverance to overcome barriers.

Was there a particular moment or experience that inspired you to pursue a career in your field?
Absolutely. The moment I realized the profound impact of helping people secure a job—a fundamental need for personal and professional growth—I knew I had found my purpose. Providing others with opportunities brings me immense peace.

How do you balance your professional responsibilities with personal commitments?
My family and I share responsibilities, and we maintain boundaries. Though I work with my family, we ensure that work discussions end by 8 PM. It’s essential to establish and respect these boundaries for balance.

Advice for the Next Generation
What advice would you give to young women aspiring to leadership roles?
Live with purpose, work with passion, and you will find peace.

Are there any specific skills or qualities you believe are essential for future leaders?
Commitment to yourself is key—it allows you to commit to others. Leaders should be magnetic, drawing people in with empathy and strength.

Can you share a piece of advice you received early in your career that has stuck with you?
I was told to have “stick-to-it-ness.” It may not be a real word, but growing up in Arkansas, we sometimes make up our own words (smiles).

How important is networking, and what strategies do you suggest for building a strong professional network?
Networking is important, but it should be balanced with building your business foundation. Schedule time for networking without letting it overshadow the work needed to grow your business.

Importance of Giving Back
Why do you believe it is important to give back through organizations like the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce?
I believe women are the backbone of America. We are the foundation of both families and businesses, making our contribution essential for success.

Can you share any personal experiences or stories where giving back has had a significant impact?
As a child advocate, kids have always held a special place in my heart. I’ve served on the advisory board for over eight years and adopted two children who were wards of the state. It’s been a rewarding experience to support such an important cause.

How does being involved in the Chamber benefit both you personally and your organization?
Personally, it’s inspiring to be around like-minded, goal-oriented women. Professionally, I meet new people regularly, expanding my network and strengthening our organization.

What initiatives or programs within the Chamber are you most passionate about and why?
I am most passionate about membership growth and programs that focus on helping children, as they represent our future.

Additional Insights
What changes would you like to see in the business world to better support women leaders?
I’d love to see more support structures for startups and new businesses, especially from financial institutions that understand and cater to women in business.

How do you stay motivated and continue to grow professionally?
I am deeply self-motivated, with a strong foundation in faith. Motivation comes from within, and I focus on personal growth through reading, audio learning, and attending workshops when possible.

Can you share any books, podcasts, or resources that have been particularly influential in your career?
Joel Osteen, Zig Ziglar, and the book Jesus CEO have been significant influences in my journey.

What do you believe is the biggest misconception about women in leadership, and how can we address it?
A common misconception is that women are too soft to handle pressure. I believe we are naturally designed for leadership. Addressing this requires advocating for equal opportunities for everyone.
