I am a partner in the Business Immigration section at Jackson Walker LLP. Immigration law has been my area of expertise since I started in the legal field in 1997. I love what I do and enjoy working with my amazing team. My practice is considered “business immigration” because I work with U.S. and international organizations to obtain visas for professionals to work in the U.S. My clients have consisted of companies in the following industries: construction, education, healthcare, entertainment, technology, manufacturing, and professional sports teams. I work with many different types of professionals, from petroleum engineers to scientific researchers, CEOs to athletes, and software engineers to offshore personnel.
I chose this area of law due to its fast pace, ever-changing interpretation of the law based upon the worldwide political climate and economy, and the opportunity to work with many government agencies and interesting people from all over the world. It is very satisfying knowing that I have been instrumental in bringing professionals to the U.S. who are key participants in major projects, research, or leadership positions beneficial to the U.S. Due to the complexity in this area of immigration law, there is a need to provide ongoing support and guidance to employers and employees throughout the process. I find it personally satisfying to help people relocate to a safer or more accepting home in the U.S. My legal expertise combined with my compassion for clients has been a key factor in my success in maintaining long term clients and attracting new ones.
When not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cheering on the Houston Astros and the Houston Texans, and attending the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo . I also love to travel to many different destinations including New York City, Napa Valley, Mexico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Italy. I have a fun group of friends that I run with weekly, and I am currently training for the New York City Marathon to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
I am so fortunate to work for a law firm that encourages community involvement as well as a work-life balance. I am involved with The Women’s Resource which is a Houston based organization that focuses on providing free financial stability services to thousands of low-moderate income girls, women, and families. I am proud to be a supporter and volunteer with this organization and help women and girls acquire the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to make sound decisions and improve their lives.
