The Rose's Fleet of Mammography Coaches
The Rose's Newest Mammography Coach, Eva

The Rose has announced the arrival of Eva, its fifth luxury mobile mammography coach!  In addition to providing mammogram and other breast cancer services at its brick and mortar locations in Houston, The Rose owns and operates a fleet of five luxury mobile mammography coaches that provide mammograms and breast health services to women in counties across Southeast Texas. And now the nonprofit has another brand-new, shiny tool on wheels! The mission of the Rose is saving lives through quality breast health services, advocacy and access to care for all, including uninsured as well as insured patients. The Rose is recognized by the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence.

Thanks to the generosity of a donor, The Rose introduced its fifth luxury mobile coach last month, in June.  All five of The Rose’s coaches are equipped with the latest in breast screening technology, 3D mammography.

In fiscal year 2022 women benefited from nearly 58,000 breast health services provided by The Rose. Nearly 9,000 women received services through the mobile coaches, and about half of those women were uninsured. The coaches traveled to 35 counties throughout Southeast Texas, serving women who live in 60 counties.

The mobile coaches offer women the ability to get a mammogram without having to travel a long distance. Employers, schools, churches, and other groups contact The Rose to have the coaches come to their sites.  For example, the mobile coach program has found success in partnering with school districts to offer staff members mammograms, so they do not have to take a day off.

Sixty-five percent of women who get their mammogram at a mobile coach say they would not have gotten a mammogram otherwise, according to The Rose Chief Operating Officer Jessica Duckworth.

The Rose recommends women get annual mammograms starting at age 40. But The Rose COO Duckworth said if a woman’s mother or sister has had breast cancer, screenings are recommended starting 10 years earlier than the age their family member was diagnosed. Women with other medical history should discuss with their doctor about starting mammograms earlier.

For every three insured women who get mammograms with The Rose, one uninsured woman can get a mammogram as well.
