Women now own 15.7 million businesses—40.6% of all U.S. businesses. These firms employ 12.6 million people and generate $2.8 trillion annually. Women-owned businesses grew 12.1% between 2022 and 2025, nearly twice the 6.3% growth rate of men-owned businesses. However, only 9% of women-owned firms have employees; that relatively small group generates 82% of all women-owned business revenue.
