Recently, GHWCC’s Women Supporting the Arts (WSA) committee brought a troupe of actors from Houston’s Ensemble Theatre to the Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy (YWCPA) for a special performance from its highly acclaimed musical, “Motown Christmas”. Thanks to sponsorship by Houston Airport System, represented by board and committee member Rhonda Arnold, an auditorium full of students enjoyed holiday hits and pop singles in a rousing performance that had students, teachers, and GHWCC Board members alike bopping to the music! Following the performance, all five Ensemble actors chatted with students, answering questions and posing for photos. By all accounts, it was a wonderful way to engage the students and send them off to their holiday break with a song in their hearts!
Ensemble Theatre is the oldest and largest professional African American theatre in the Southwest and holds the distinction of being one of the nation’s largest African American theatres owning and operating its facility and producing in-house.
