To qualify for the pitch competition you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Your business is at least 51% owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a woman or women.
- Your business made $500,000 or less in gross revenue in 2023 or 2024.
- Your business employed 10 or less in 2023 or 2024.
- Your business must be registered in the State of Texas.
- A female owner of a business in Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery or Waller Counties and your business must have operated for more than 12 months.
- A legal resident of Texas.
Application Process:
- Completed applications must be submitted via the online application form.
- Applicants will receive notification via email that the application was received. If you do not receive this notification, please contact us.
- Finalists will be selected and notified via email.
- Finalists to attend The International Conference for Women on May 17, 2024.
- Finalists must respond to the notification email in order to secure their place in the final pitch event.
- Finalists chosen for the final pitch event will receive further instructions for the day and time of the event.
- Submission Period: March 22 to April 12
Guidelines and Rules:
- The application form must be submitted with all required fields completed to be considered for the live pitch event.
- In the event that a finalist cannot be present at the live pitch event, an alternate may be selected. The Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to adjust the number of finalists at any time.
- The live pitch event will be recorded and available for replay on The Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce website and/or social media platforms.
- The winner of the live pitch will be announced upon completion of the three finalists’ pitches and judging.
- The winner must be present to accept the award.
Your pitch should answer the following questions:
- Are you providing a solution to a problem? For example, do you have unique products or services?
- Who is your target MARKET, and how will you reach them?
- Who is your competition and what makes your business different from them?
- What is your plan for growth, including hiring employees?
Judging Criteria:
- Execution: Description of challenges the business has/will face and success achieved (20%)
- Sustainability: Business’s potential for long-term sustainability (20%)
- Innovation: Uniqueness and creativity of the business (20%)
- Presentation: Overall quality of the pitch (40%)
