Last year, I shared a message that resonated with so many of you: that women often carry the invisible role of “holiday magic maker.”
We plan, cook, wrap, decorate, coordinate, and quietly hold it all together — often at the expense of our own peace.
This year, I want to revisit that truth, but through a different lens. Because here’s what I’ve learned — you don’t have to make all the magic for everyone else. You just have to stay present enough to experience some of it yourself.
When I interviewed seventy people for The Rebalancing Act, one theme was clear: the ones who thrived didn’t strive for balance — they practiced rebalancing in real time.
That means pausing when your energy dips, asking for help without guilt, and letting “good enough” sometimes be the goal.
As we head into Thanksgiving week, consider:
Where am I overextending to meet expectations that no one actually asked me to
meet?
What would happen if I let others create a little of the magic this year?
What small act could bring me joy — not just everyone else?
You don’t have to do it all to make the season meaningful. You just have to be here for
it.
Until next time,
