Frida Kahlo’s Frida: The Making of an Icon at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston traces how she went from a relatively unknown Mexican painter to a global cultural figure by combining over 30 of her works with memorabilia, personal items, and pieces by artists she inspired across five generations. The exhibition also explores the commercialization of her image and her lasting impact on art, identity, and activism, and runs January 19–May 17, 2026.
