Not long after Claud’s arrival in 2022, his animal care team noticed he had a small limp. They worked with our veterinary team to determine the best course of action to repair abnormalities of his right hip. Dr. Maryanne Tocidlowski led the vet team in a surgery that removes the head of his femur – called femoral head ostectomy or FHO.
Claud has since completed rehabilitation and can be seen in his habitat playing in his pool, engaging with enrichment, and foraging for food.
