Trailblazer Diane Crump Leaves Lasting Legacy in Horse Racing

Diane Crump, who broke barriers as the first woman to ride professionally in a pari-mutuel horse race in 1969 and the first female jockey to compete in the Kentucky Derby in 1970, has died at age 77 after battling aggressive brain cancer. A trailblazer in a male-dominated sport, Crump recorded 228 career wins and paved the way for generations of women in horse racing.
