Dad, You Have Always Handled Dealing With The Stereotypes Of Being A Black Man In A Graceful Way

Dear Dad,

I want to thank you for all that you do for me. I am so grateful to have a present father in my life who is there for guidance and love. I thank you for all the time you’ve spent with me over the years, especially all of those hours spent taking me to swim practices and meets. You’ve always been my biggest supporter and have always encouraged me to put my best foot forth in everything that I do. I truly don’t know where I would be without you.

I know that it can’t be easy being the only man in a house full of women and having three daughters always asking you for things. Your continued patience is appreciated and I hope to set the same example myself in the future. I also know that it is also not easy being a black man in America. You have always handled dealing with the stereotypes of being a black man in a graceful way, and have taught me the importance of picking my battles, but also the importance of educating myself on our culture and history. I hope that I am able to take all that you’ve taught me and use it to make an impact on my community, but also to make you proud.

Love,

Your Daughter Daria
