(2021) Class in Session: WBI Students Get ‘Board Ready’ at the Houstonian Club

Nov 13, 2020 | Uncategorized

A dynamic class of 13 executive women gathered at the Houstonian Hotel Thursday morning for their first class of the 2020-2021 school year.

The GHWCC’s Women on Board Institute (WBI) provides resources and tools for qualified women to become Board ready.

After a round of self-introductions and getting to know each other, our ladies received lessons on leadership from guest speakers, Deborah Hicks Midanek Bailey and Christina Ibrahim.

Bailey is the founder and CEO of The Solon Group and has authored two books on Governance. She covered topics of Corporate Governance.

Ibrahim is Chairperson of the Nominating and Governance Committee at PDC Energy. She is a former EVP, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Capital, and Corporate Secretary at Weatherford.

The WBI provides a professional and provocative forum discussion about board criteria and requirements in a confidential setting by professionals and executives skilled inboard placement, including search firms and executives currently serving on at least two corporate boards.

The Institute also provides an individual Hogan Assessment, which evaluates personality characteristics, assesses leadership capabilities, and identifies potential development areas for executives.

The program is led by our founder, president, and CEO, Suzan Deison, and Marie Guillot, Preng & Associates, Consultant, Women & Diversity, Executive & Board Practice.

If you are interested in serving on a corporate board, the WBI will prepare you for board consideration.
