How do you balance your professional responsibilities with personal commitments?
Wise women will tell you that there is no real balance, so when you stop striving for that perfect balance it will allow you to live deeper into the moments when you have respite or time to enjoy. If you can appreciate those moments when you’re having them you will feel more whole. Doing this allows you to dive deeper when your professional role needs you most and to feel like you can give it your all.
Advice for the Next Generation
Can you share a piece of advice you received early in your career that has stuck with you? When I was first starting out a leader told me to focus on my strengths and opportunities. She told me that often people get so focused on how to improve in their area of shortcomings that they lose sight of what they do well. Focusing on those areas helps you become even sharper and helps you lean into opportunities where your strengths shine.
Importance of Giving Back
Why do you believe it is important to give back through organizations like the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce?
No one does anything alone. Even the most successful people have mentors and sponsors. It’s important to help others even while you are getting support and GHWCC is the perfect place to find people who will support, push, challenge and cheer you on.
