This year, the GHWCC Education Committee’s Love What You Do high school program, led by Dr. Diana Pino, coordinated seven educational career events. The program offers junior and senior high school girls an opportunity to learn more about their chosen fields, hearing directly from experts about what they can expect from the industry. Participating school districts included Spring ISD, Aldine ISD, Spring Branch ISD, Houston ISD, and KIPP Texas Public School. We are fortunate to have a large and diverse network of corporate and non-profit partners, eager to help support and develop the next generation of professionals, including SLB, Lone Star College, Hines, Stellar Bank, Texas Children’s Hospital, Reliant, an NRG company, and Regions Bank.
The experiences provided by our partners were extremely impactful, exemplified in just one student’s comment, “I saw the passion each of them had for their job, and I think it’s something very important to think about when deciding what I really want to do. Do I really like doing this? Am I passionate about it? I think they were very inspiring.” We are so grateful to all who made this opportunity possible for over 100 students who participated.
